Employability
Triage started delivering employability programmes in 1999.
Our first contract was New Deal, which we delivered across Forth Valley and then Fife. In 2007, we began delivering Pathways to Work in Forth Valley, Fife and Tayside. Pathways to Work was the first major programme to help people with health conditions move into employment.
In 2011, the commencement of the Work Programme saw Triage move into North East England, delivering employment support across Tees Valley.
Today, we deliver employability programmes across Scotland and England on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions, the Scottish Government and a number of Scottish Local Employability Partnerships.
Our programmes are delivered by a team of experienced Employment Advisers who provide tailored, one-to-one advice to help people from a wide range of backgrounds move into work. As well as practical help like CV building, interview skills and job searching, our services also extend to helping people find the confidence to look for work, then supporting them once they move into employment - ultimately helping them to progress towards their full potential in the labour market.

Work and Health Programme
The Work and Health Programme is an employability programme commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions.
The Work and Health Programme provides support for individuals with health conditions or disabilities who are unemployed, helping them to get back into the labour market. It’s voluntary unless the participant has been out of work and claiming unemployment benefits for 24 months.
Triage deliver this in North East England on behalf of Reed in Partnership.
This programme is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
Restart Scheme
The Restart Scheme is an employability programme commissioned by the Department for Work and Pensions.
Restart offers tailored employability support to people who have been out of work for at least 12 months and are in receipt of Universal Credit. Under the scheme, they will be given help to find a job that's right for them and stay in work.
Triage deliver this in North East England on behalf of Reed in Partnership.
Fair Start Scotland
Fair Start Scotland is an employability programme commissioned by the Scottish Government.
Fair Start Scotland is an employment support service for anyone with a health condition or disability looking to get back to work. This flexible service is tailored to an individual’s personal circumstances and is completely voluntary.
Triage deliver this in eight areas across Scotland on behalf of People Plus and Start Scotland.
No One Left Behind
No One Left Behind (NOLB) is the Scottish Government’s policy framework and approach to tackling employment issues across the nation. It aims to ensure those who experience complex and multiple barriers to moving into work are not ‘left behind’.
Services are procured by 32 Local Employability Partnerships and align to the various stages of the Scottish Employability Pipeline.
We deliver NOLB on behalf of the following commissioners:
- Edinburgh and South East City Region
- North Lanarkshire Council*

We also deliver Employability Skills for Falkirk Council covering topics such as customer service, productivity and problem solving.
Refugee Employability Programme
The Refugee Employability Programme (REP) is a Home Office initiative for the specific needs of refugees, to give them the support they need to find work and build their lives in England. The REP aims to remove barriers which cannot be fully addressed by mainstream services.
The REP provides three types of support:
Employment support
Ensuring an appropriate level of support is provided to refugees to build their skills and talent in the workplace, including:
- CV writing classes
- sector specific training
- interview practice
English language
- English Language classes, including English as a Second or Other Language (ESOL)
- invitations to formal and informal conversation clubs
- lessons to support learning capacity such as literacy
Integration support
Helping refugees to integrate and settle into their local communities by signposting services such as:
- community groups
- healthcare
- childcare
